Every Sherpa 4x4 winch begins life with extensive 3D modelling and precision engineering by our in-house team. This commitment to design excellence ensures each model delivers unmatched strength, reliability and performance in real-world conditions.
Want to learn more about how we create industry-leading winches? Sherpa 4x4 winch development. to see the innovation behind the power.

Sherpa design and manufacture high-quality truck, pickup and 4x4 winches in a wide range of configurations to suit your individual needs. From the 9,500LB “Mustang” for lighter vehicles through to the 25,000LB “Stallion” for larger trucks, there’s a Sherpa winch built for every application. Our winches fit all major makes and models including Ford F-Series, Dodge, RAM Pickup, Silverado, Sierra, Tacoma, Ranger and more.
Easy Installation
Our complete installation kits include everything you need to fit your recovery winch to most bull bars with ease — and they look great once installed. For heavy-duty applications such as RVs, trucks and competition vehicles, we also offer dual-motor winches to spread the load and reduce strain on drives and solenoids.
Rope & Cable Options
Choose from synthetic rope or steel cable in two lengths — 28m (33.5 Yards) or 45m (53.8 Yards) — to suit your recovery needs. Synthetic rope is now the most popular choice, thanks to its light weight, floating capability and reduced coil back while still matching steel cable’s breaking strain. Each winch comes with an aluminium hawse or roller fairlead, control box, wired hand remote, all cabling, mounting box, winch hook and strap, plus brackets for easy installation — with a choice of 12V or 24V.
Accessories & Add-Ons
Enhance your setup with wireless remote controls, winch dampers, battery isolation switches, winch anchors, snatch blocks, covers and more. View our full range of accessories here.
Why Choose Sherpa?
Sherpa Winches are tried, tested and proven in extreme conditions. In a recovery situation you can’t afford to compromise — quality matters. Don’t risk a cheap, inferior winch.

Size the winch from the vehicle's real trail weight, not the factory curb weight. Include passengers, fuel, bumpers, armor, roof gear, drawers, tools, camping equipment, and any permanent accessories. The Sherpa USA range steps from the 9,500 lb Mustang and 10,000 lb high-speed Brumby through the 12,000 lb Colt, 17,000 lb Steed, 25,000 lb Stallion, and the dual-motor Mule. A heavier rating provides useful reserve, but it also increases winch size, weight, and electrical demand. Mud suction, steep grades, buried axles, and a dead vehicle can require far more force than simply rolling the truck on flat pavement. Check the winch bumper or mounting plate rating and available space before choosing a larger model solely for extra capacity.
Electric winch capacity is highest when the rope is pulling from the innermost layer on the drum. At that point the effective drum diameter is smallest, giving the gearbox the greatest mechanical advantage. Each additional wrap builds the rope farther from the drum center, increasing leverage against the winch and reducing available line pull. That is why a difficult recovery often improves when enough rope is paid out to work on the lower layers, while still keeping the minimum number of wraps required by the manufacturer. If the load remains high, a properly rated snatch block or recovery ring can be used to create a double-line pull and reduce the load on the winch. Never unwind to the rope attachment point and expect that fastener to carry the recovery load.
Synthetic rope is lighter, easier on the hands, and has much less mass if the line fails, which is why it is popular on recreational trucks and SUVs. It should be protected from sharp edges, heat, UV exposure, and dirty or damaged hawse fairleads. Steel cable is heavier and can develop broken wires, but it tolerates abrasion and heat well and remains useful in commercial or industrial work where the line may contact rough surfaces. Use the fairlead intended for the line type: a smooth aluminum hawse for synthetic rope and an appropriate roller fairlead for steel cable. Whichever line you choose, inspect the full length regularly and replace it when cuts, kinks, corrosion, melted fibers, or severe wear make its condition uncertain.
A high-output 12V winch can draw several hundred amps under heavy load, so the battery, cables, terminals, and grounds must be in excellent condition. The alternator helps while the engine is running, but it cannot replace energy as quickly as a hard-working winch can consume it. Use the cable size supplied or specified by Sherpa, keep high-current runs short, and install a properly rated DC isolation method. A second battery can add reserve when the system is designed correctly, but simply adding another small battery will not fix undersized cable or poor connections. If the winch slows dramatically, the cables become hot, or voltage collapses during a moderate pull, test the electrical system before assuming the winch is faulty.
Many Sherpa recovery winches use common mounting layouts, but fitment should be checked against the exact bumper or winch cradle. Compare the Sherpa dimensions and mounting pattern with the bumper manufacturer's specifications, including maximum winch capacity. Larger models such as the Steed, Stallion, or dual-motor Mule need more room for the motor, gearbox, control wiring, and clutch access than a compact 9,500 lb winch. The fairlead opening must line up correctly with the drum, and the control box needs a protected mounting location. Avoid drilling new structural holes or modifying a bumper plate without understanding how it affects the mount's rating. A winch is only as strong as the structure holding it to the frame.

My stallion broke down after years of heavy use and thought I had to buy a new one. Found out it was the drive motor and just replaced it with one of these babies easy as.. Job done
Picked up one of these bundles online a while back and love this unit. Great to have on the truck for any inflation needs.
These hand winches work really well.. Grabbed one for my boat and handles it with ease.. Recommend
Bought a 4 pack a few weeks back. These are great, easy to use and look awesome. Handy to have 4 too..
Sturdy, well built and good weight to it. Can hear the quality as it ratchets. Easy company to deal with and delivery was seamless.
Awesome winch!
Aptly named......Steed
2nd Sherpa I have purchased. Just mounted it. Have not used yet. Mounted on MME bumper. Suggest mount all pieces to bumper before mount to truck. One of the cables from the controller to the motor (black) was too short and had to be lengthened (no big deal). I used 1/0 cables, so I had to remove stock positive feed to controller, drill out to accept 1/0 cable, and put back together. With the distance I had the stock cables were not big enough. Looks to be a great product. Maybe sherpa could modify controller design to accept a bigger cable with an insert when the installation requires.
This was the second time we order this winch, easy to navaigate the web page and delivery time was better than expected. On the first order i had a question about the winch and i called before they opened, didn't leave a message, and later that evening i had a gentleman call me back telling me he missed a call and wanted to know if i needed any help. Great product and Great customer service.
Although I haven’t mount my new winch yet, I can say that shipping was a lot faster than I expected
very impressed with this winch. very well built and strong winch.
love it. fast delivery to USA.

Sherpa 4x4 'Stallion' - 25,000Lb Winch
I used the 25,000 LBS winch this past weekend to pull out my 1997 Cat D3C bulldozer from a 3 foot deep 100 foot wide mud bog. The remote functioned perfectly as did the winch! I did add two blocks to increase purchase & I had purchased an extra synthetic rope to get to a stable tree to pull against. I was able to remove the machine without any outside assistance and I can not imagine the cost I would of incurred if I did not own this winch. The winch has become essential on our farm and I have not found a piece of equipment that it cant "unstick"! Great piece of essential kit!
So excited to use this 25,000 pulling monster to pull down massive pine trees this weekend. Installed in 2007 RAM 6.7L 3500 Megacab and fit perfectly under a road armor assault steel bumper with bull bars. My old 12,500 warn winch was giving out and I found sherpa and went for it. Time will tell with the performance of the winch and all the sherpa gear I ordered
GRREAT DEAL. GRREAT LOOKING. BUT DID NOT RECIVE STICKERS LIKE I SEE OTHER GETTING IN BOX WITH WINCH. I GUESS A SMALL COMPLANT. SO FAR SO GOOD.
