Best winch ever.
I was hesitant to purchase because of the steep price. But I've had a stallion on my Cherokee for almost a year and it is insanely reliable and well built. Has never failed me. The stallion has kept me going through the extremely rugged Idaho winters.
My first winch was a Harbor Freight and it fell apart in less than a year from regular use. Lol.
I bought a Sherpa Grunter winch system and installed it on my boat trailer. It has been in service since early spring. The Grunter is a beast for certain. My fishing vessel is a 26' Sea Pro that weighs about 8000 lbs. The Grunter motor hardy labors pulling the boat onto the trailer (single line). And, it is fast. Sherpa winches are by far, superior to the competition.
No more struggling to get my boat up on my trailer with bunks. With just a push of a button it is up on the trailer in no time! took a couple of days to install but well worth it. Only complaint would be that on the advertisement, it shows the box attached to the the upright on the trailer with a mettle bracket. In the instructions it shows to take the back of the plastic hosing off and drill holes in it to attach it. Other than that, great product.
Did a quick mock up with the john boat and winch until I can get battery installed in a more proper manner. Pulled maybe 5 feet in 10 sec, suspect boat weighs 1200lbs. Don't expect to pull more that 8 feet at the most. Much faster and quieter than I thought and not made with a cheap plastic housing cover. It is a little harder to free spool than my 1500lb warn winch I use as an electric anchor, but no big deal, maybe because it's a bigger winch. I do like the fact that it came with everything for the price. The quality seems to be very good, only time will tell.I am also using synthetic rope. Hopefully this will live up to the SHERPA name and last me for many years. Thank You.
